During the summer time, or any time where you are in a warm or humid environment, your body's need for water increases.
Making sure that you drink plenty of water in order to compensate for this additional need is the best plan of action, but this can be subsidised by eating various foods that have a high water content as well. One such example is the watermelon, which we will cover along with other fruits with a high water content.
This article is going to explain how much water you need a day, and just how to stay hydrated during the summer months ahead, highlighting the best drink for dehydration.
How much water do we need each day?
So how much water do you need a day? Well first of all we should take a look at the volume of water that our bodies need each day, before other factors such as spending time outside in the heat, or physical activity are taken into consideration. These are factors that of course will use up more water through bodily functions, and increase the amount that we sweat.
A commonly talked about benchmark is that drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water each day, which equates to approximately two to three liters, is sufficient to meet your body's needs. We require water so that a great many processes can take place in our body, and it loses it through sweat, urination and breathing. So keeping our water levels topped up all day is mandatory, under normal temperatures and circumstances, let alone any that increase the overall need.
Should you end up in a hot and/or humid environment, it is fundamental to take on board more water. The need for water is even greater if you are taking part in physical activity in such conditions, and/or if you are spending time at greater altitudes.
It is difficult to say exactly how much more is needed, but you should be exceeding 3-4 liters spread out during the day.
Ways to stay hydrated during the summer months
Now that you know how much water your body needs, and just why this need is increased during the summer months, let's look at the best ways to stay hydrated.
1. Drink plenty of water and hydrating liquids- The best thing about water is that you don't have to buy it over the counter. Of course if you want to you can as mineral water is available pretty much everywhere you go, but the point is you turn the tap on and it comes out. It may go without saying, but this is undoubtedly the most obvious, and by far the easiest way to remain hydrated during hot and humid weather. If you are going out, keep a bottle of water with you, or if you are at work then keep a bottle of water with you as well. Refill the bottle as many times as possible during the day so the water is there as and when you need it. Sports drinks, such as Gatorade, are also hydrating due to the electorlytes that they contain, they may in fact be the best drink for dehydration.
2. Eat fruits that contain a high volume of water, such as the watermelon - We should all be making sure that we have five portions of fruit and vegetables each day, and during the summer months you should ensure that those that you eat have a high water content. A brilliant example of a fruit that is bursting with water is the aptly named watermelon, which is made up of over 90% water. There are also a load of brilliant nutritional benefits that can be obtained from eating watermelon such as it's high volumes of vitamin C and potassium, plus there are literally no calories in watermelon to worry about, if you are a calorie counter.
Other such fruits and vegetables with high water content are:
* Lettuce
* Apples
* Grapefruit
* Cantaloupe
* Grapes
* Tomatoes
3. Avoid things that will have a dehydrating effect - It is lovely to sit in the sun and have a glass of wine, or a nice cold beer, but avoiding things such as alcohol, or at least drinking them in smaller quantities and alongside regular water intake, is the safest option. Alcohol has a dehydrating effect on the body, as anyone who has ever suffered from a hangover will tell you, and this is going to make you feel even worse in the summer heat. Other such liquids that can be dehydrating are sodas and caffeinated beverages.
Summary
I hope that the three ways of how to stay hydrated during the summer have been useful, and that you will take the advice provided on board. Becoming dehydrated is something that can be very dangerous, so avoiding it at all costs is a must.
After all we are never far away from a free source of water, fruits like the watermelon are easily available in stores and supermarkets everywhere for next to nothing, and limiting how much alcohol we drink is down to nothing but self restraint.

Choosing the Right Exercise for You on a Budget
Which Exercise is Right for You?
Think about what you like doing before choosing the type of exercise program to follow. It is pointless choosing something you hate or you will not follow through or continue with it.
Before you start any exercise make sure that you get a check up with your Doctor or Physician, especially if you have any underlying health problems, are very overweight, smoke or if you have not exercised for quite some time.
If you are on a budget
If you are on a budget then gymnasium fees may be prohibitively expensive for you so if using gym equipment is your thing, then think about adapting some of the exercises for home use, such as floor exercises on a mat, lifting small weights and perhaps invest in some small home gym equipment such as exercise bike or rowing machine and a blow up exercise ball.
You can probably pick a lot of these up quite reasonably from eBay or Amazon but make sure that if you get any second hand equipment it is checked out thoroughly and that it is completely safe to use before starting your exercise programme.
Walking or Jogging
You could also think about other forms of exercise if you are really struggling due to the economic crisis. You can walk or jog for free but make sure that the route you take is safe especially if you are a lone female. You will need to make a small investment in a good pair of running or walking shoes.
Walking is especially good for most levels of fitness and even if you are massively overweight as long as your Doctor agrees then you can start with a few steps and gradually build up the distance that you walk. If you are already very fit then you can always start power walking or hill walking to increase the levels at which you are exercising.
Perhaps you can find a friend to be a jogging partner or walking buddy, which will make the exercising more enjoyable and sociable and help to motivate you. The time will also pass quickly if you are talking as you walk and it is much harder to give in and not bother if you know that someone is waiting for you to join them.
You can do some exercises at home using a can of beans in each hand as cheap weights to start with and if you get a strong piece of thick elastic you can sew it into a loop and use this in your exercises too, but be careful that it doesn't break.
Dancing
If you love music and enjoy dancing then find a room in your home where you won't be disturbed and play your favourite music whilst dancing along and if you are worried about the neighbours seeing you then close the drapes. If you are more confident then you can join a club and take up a new form of dancing such as tap, belly dancing, pole dancing or ballroom and salsa.
Skipping or Jump Rope
This is a cheap way to exercise and a very good aerobic workout but may not be suitable if you have any joint problems, high blood pressure or any breathing or heart problems as it is rather strenuous. Start with a few jumps and build up to 10, 20, 30 and so on.
Swimming
If you live near a public swimming pool or have generous friends who are happy to let you use their pool then swimming is an excellent exercise especially if you are obese or extremely overweight as the water will help to support you and your joints. You may even be lucky enough to find somewhere that offers Aqua Aerobics too, which is a great way to get into shape without pounding your joints too hard. Have a look in your local area and see if there is somewhere that you can swim for a reasonable fee.
Golf
Although Golf is thought of as an expensive sport there are some local golf courses and facilities that offer a per play option that can work out a lot cheaper than course fees. Look for a course that also offers golf club hire so that you can try golf out first before going to any expense of buying equipment and then realising that you do not enjoy it. If golf is completely un-attainable financially then perhaps you could look into becoming a caddie for someone you know or ask at your local course if there are any weekend or evening jobs that involve walking around the course and if they offer use of the facilities as a perk of employment then that would be even better.
There are many sports and exercises that you take up so if you don't like one find another that you do like.
No matter which exercise you choose make sure that you start gently and don't overdo it. You need to begin at a low level of intensity and if it hurts then stop. Gradually build up day by day so that you improve your level of fitness and increase the length of time as well as repetitions.
How Hard Should You Push Yourself
You want to aim to push your self each time just past your comfort zone and improve on your previous performance. If you go into a programme full on and push yourself too hard you will not sustain the programme and will most likely give up or cause yourself a nasty injury. Remember if you get an injury then you will be unable to exercise for the time it takes to heal so take it gently and look after your body.
Also whichever exercise you choose you will need to warm up and cool down before and after each session and even if you are dancing around your own room make sure that you start with a slow song and end with a slow song and try to do some stretching exercises to protect your muscles.
Ideally you want to work up to at least 30 minutes 3 times a week but if you are really unfit and in bad shape then you must start slowly by maybe walking for 10 minutes each day and then increase this by 5 minutes more every couple of weeks.
If you are serious about getting fit then start slowly, working at your own pace, gradually build up your levels and most of all keep going long term as this is better than short bursts of excessive exercise followed by long periods of inactivity.

Looking Good and Feeling Fabulous: The Best Diet for a Woman
The best diet for a woman has many benefits. It gives her sufficient energy, suits her mood, maintains her weight, and improves her appearance. The right kind of food can reduce premenstrual syndrome, boost fertility, make pregnancy and nursing easier, and ease symptoms of menopause. Regardless of the age, a healthy diet can help her perform her duties well and enjoy life.
The best diet for a woman starts with good nutrition. This includes a well-rounded diet consisting whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, and lean sources of protein. These kinds of foods provide women with energy, means for weight control, and ingredients for having a glowing complexion.
Usually, men also benefit from a good diet plan. A professional nutritionist tailors this to specific needs of his or her patients. Here are some tips on the Best Diet for Men and women:
-Focus on whole, plant-based foods.
Buy fruits and leafy green vegetables. Make sure you incorporate whole grains, legumes, and beans to give you fiber. This helps keep you going for the rest of the day. Look for minimally- processed or locally grown foods whenever possible. Make these a mainstay in your diet. You may also go for organic food items.
-Bone up on Calcium
Women are at a greater risk of developing osteoporosis, so get some calcium to support your bone health. While dairy products are high in calcium, their animal fat and protein can hasten bone loss. Try plant-based sources of calcium such as kale, beans, broccoli, collard greens, and Brussel sprouts.
-Sufficient iron
Many women do not get enough iron in their diet. They also lose many minerals during menstruation. They can boost in their intake by eating iron rich foods like dark poultry, red meat, lentils, spinach, almonds, and iron-fortified cereals.
A Good Diet Plan for a Woman Body Builder
Women body builders must be cautious of what they eat. They should avoid having poor nutrition to compete well. It naturally follows that bodybuilding for women requires a strict diet. Women, as opposed to men, have less muscle and more fat. They also have slower metabolisms compared to their male counterparts.
Successful bodybuilding for women needs a diet rich in protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Most bodybuilders use a ratio of about 30 percent protein, 30 percent fat, and 40 percent complex carbohydrates.
If you plan to be a female bodybuilder, keep your meals small. Take these frequently. Your meals should total about at least 300 to 500 calories each. Have your highest calorie meals after working out. Protein shakes are good replacements for small meals. These help keep your metabolism high, which helps burn fat faster. A good supply of protein can help build muscle.
You can also get supplements that promote fat burning for men and women bodybuilders. One good tip to balance their diet is to schedule a cheat meal per week. This helps limit cravings during the rest of the week. In addition, following a strict diet can deplete muscles and slow down metabolism.

What Is a Paraesophageal Hernia?
A paraesophageal hernia is a type of hiatal hernia that is present in the upper portion of the stomach; it happens when a weak spot is present in the diaphragm wall. More specifically it occurs when the stomach protrudes through the esophageal hiatus; this is the hole in the diaphragm through which the esophagus passes. It is also known as rolling hiatal hernia. It is one of the two types of hiatal or hiatus hernias, the other one being sliding hiatus hernia. The latter is the more common type and accounts for as much as 95% of the hiatal hernia cases.
Diagnosis of paraesophageal hernia is made through endoscopy, radiography, and manometry. Because the symptoms of the condition are not unique to it, it is important that other probable causes of the symptoms be eliminated. Chest pain, acid reflux, and heart palpitations are some of the symptoms that appear. Often, this type of hernia can exist without any signs or symptoms. Basically, this is quite a rare form of hernia that can take a long time, often years to develop. There is no firm known cause of paraesophageal hernia. Smoking and lifting heavy weights are risk factors, as is obesity. If the hernia develops into a strangulated or constricted one then immediate surgery is required.
Paraesophageal hernia can be treated laparoscopically; in fact, this mode of treatment is preferred wherever possible as the recovery time for the patient is less; surgery trauma is less; and the patient can leave the hospital sooner. He can return to work sooner. In short, there is minimal interference with lifestyle. The exception may be for cases of giant paraesophageal hernia that are treated with open surgery. If you experience persistent heartburn, dysphagia, and nausea you should consider a diagnosis for paraesophageal hernia. Left to itself the condition only grows worse and the amount of skill required to treat such a herniated stomach is not insignificant.
The doctors have to handle the herniated stomach with care otherwise tears and perforations can occur. It is very important that while the herniated stomach is released and the tear repaired, there should not be any touching of the pleural spaces. This surgery is performed close to the vital organs and requires a lot of care. The surgeon has to take a call on whether a mesh should be placed to support the weakened diaphragm muscles. Usually placing a mesh is not a problem by itself but the mesh will act as a hindrance to a surgical effort in the region in future.
Minimally invasive surgery to treat paraesophageal hernia is recommended but should only be done by experienced surgeons. The surgeon should also be open to converting it to an open surgery if any complications arise that cannot be rectified laparoscopically.
Tim Laker takes keen interest in the field of laparoscopic surgery and occasionally writes on the subject.

Fatigue And Tiredness - Where Have I Gone Wrong?
Tiredness will often make people think "where have I gone wrong"? If you are unsure about what caused you to become tired, then the best thing to be done is to examine the situation the first. This article will help you find out the reason and answer your question.
When you examine something, you need to consider things that you do on a daily basis. One good example is eating. All people eat every day. If you do not eat, you will die because your body will be depleted with nutrients. However, eating still does not necessarily equate to being strong and healthy. This is because there are foods that will make you feel sick and tired while there are others that will make you feel refreshed and energized. Determining the effects of food in your body is the first step to finding out if your diet makes you feel fatigued. If it does, you should start improving your food selection in order to heighten your energy level.
Aside from eating, another thing that people do every day is sleeping. That's right. Sleep has a lot to do with the level of energy that you have. Not sleeping enough will definitely result to low energy because it means less rest for the body. However, this does not mean that sleeping a lot will bring good results. In fact, sleeping for a long time is just as detrimental as not sleeping enough. This is because when you sleep for more than ten hours, your body's natural rhythm is ruined. As a result, the body will not know when to get more sleep or less sleep. It will also be confused in doing repairs and restoration.
Exercising is another thing to be considered. Although not all people do it on a regular basis, it should still be done regularly. Exercise will keep your body strong and toned whereas not doing it will make you feel lethargic. When the body does not experience physical activities, the muscles become too tender and the stamina becomes weak. This is why people who do not move so much experience tiredness easily as opposed to those who live an active lifestyle.
If you are doing these three things mentioned above well, then the problem may not be your fault. It could be a result of something that you do not have 100% control. These are the medical conditions that some people encounter from time to time.
One example is anemia. This iron deficiency syndrome has a huge role in the fatigue that a person experiences. When you have anemia, you would commonly feel tired because the body lacks hemoglobin. What is the connection between hemoglobin and iron? For a fact, it is iron that makes the hemoglobin red and which therefore makes the red blood cells red. This substance is very important because it has the capability to hold oxygen. If the red blood cells do not have hemoglobin, then it is safe to say that they should not be called red blood cells. They will also be incapable of doing their tasks so they are as good as damaged ones.
Fatigue and tiredness are not that easy to solve if you do not know where to start. Start by following the link.

Always Feel Tired - Conditions Associated With Exhaustion
For everything that happens in life, there is a reason. One cannot just occur out of the blue. The same is true with always feeling tired. You cannot become lethargic for no reason at all. Surely, there is something happening in your body or there is something that you do that makes you feel tired all the time. Let us look at the possible conditions.
The first one is psychiatric condition. The present state of your mind can affect the way you do things and can later affect your energy level. Included in psychiatric conditions are anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. Anxiety and depression have always the same effects to the body. It makes a person feel down and sad. When you are sad, the hormones in the body react and make you feel weak. This is why depressed people often avoid the company of other people. In the case of bipolar disorder, it can make you feel tired because you are in a constant state of confusion. Sometimes, you feel happy and energetic then you suddenly become sad and depressed. This creates hormonal imbalance and also confuses your body processes, thus, leading to tiredness.
The second one is infection, with emphasis on viral infection. Viruses and bacteria can bring harm to a person's health. As a response, the body activates its immune system to fight the infection. During this, the body uses a lot of energy to successfully drive away foreign bodies. In most cases, there is not so much energy left for a person to use for everyday tasks. This is why antibiotics and antiviral medications are very important in aiding the body in fighting against harmful foreign bodies.
The third one is malnutrition. Even mild cases of malnutrition can cause lethargic feeling. This is because the body cannot function well unless it gets the full amount of nutrients it needs. In most cases though, our diets cannot suffice these needs and therefore we need to seek help from supplements. There are many supplements in the market that promise a lot to health however you need to be keen in choosing your medication in order to avoid complications and unwanted side effects.
The fourth one is medication. If you have allergies, your doctor may have prescribed you with antihistamines. Antihistamines are very effective in stabilizing allergic reactions. However, they also have the ability to relax the muscles of the body and that's what makes a person weak and sleepy. Other medications that produce the same effects are pain killers, cancer medications and flu medications. To avoid such effects, you need to ask your doctor for alternatives. If there are none, then you have no choice but to stay in your house and rest for a longer time.
The last one is sleep problem. Sleep problem is not only about having insomnia or narcolepsy. It is not always unavoidable. In fact, there are a lot of things that can be done in order to improve your sleep. One of these things is keeping distraction away. This means that bedtime only belongs to bedtime and that you cannot have other activities at night once bedtime strikes.

I always feel tired. - If you are feeling the same, there is one thing you can do. Click the link and find out more about tiredness.
Food That You Should Avoid After Orthopaedic Surgery
Orthopaedic surgery requires lengthy periods of recovery and there is a specific diet to follow during the recovery period. A proper diet will allow faster healing, reduce and relieve pain. There are certain foods that you should avoid after orthopaedic surgery as they not only have no nutrients, they may also cause your body to have bad reactions.
Sweets
Sweets should be avoided after surgery. Sweets have no nutrients, vitamins, minerals and have a lot of sugar. Our appetite is often poor after surgery and sweets will make us feel full faster, taking up space to consume food that is high in nutrients and vitamins.
Fizzy drinks
Fizzy drinks are high in sugar and are to be avoided after surgery. The carbon dioxide in the fizzy drinks will cause the stomach to feel full faster and prevent us from consuming nutrients rich foods. Fizzy drinks also increases the chances of you suffering from cardiovascular problems such as heart attacks and stroke.
Caffeine products
Caffeine is a stimulant which increases the rate food is digested in our body. Consuming drinks that are high in caffeine may cause diarrhea. Drinks such as coffee, tea and cola should be avoided until a couple of weeks after surgery.
Dairy products
Dairy products are rich in calcium and other important vitamins. However, our body have difficulties digesting dairy products after surgery and thus is recommended to be avoided. Consider consuming vitamin supplements in the initial stage of recovery to ensure the body still receives the vitamins required for proper recovery.
Alcohol
Alcohol products are strictly forbidden after surgery. Alcohol causes thinning of the blood and will cause the healing process to slow down. Alcohol will also cause bleeding and bruising and should be avoided 2 weeks before surgery and 1 week after surgery.
Sticky food
Foods with a sticky texture such as pasta, cheese, peanut butter and rice is to be avoided during the initial stage of recovery as they may cause discomfort in the stomach and induce vomiting. They will also be more difficult for the stomach to digest.
Simple foods that are light and well balanced are much easier on the stomach and are easily digested. They also provide the body with the necessary vitamins and nutrients required during the recovery phase. Always make a note to avoid eating the foods mentioned above as they do not provide the body with nutrients and may cause more serious complications instead.

Woman and Men - In Friendship
All of my life, I have had an abundance of friends. I am a giver, a loyal friend and attract people easily. I am well liked and was always in the "popular' group at school, but never one of the "mean girls."
Of course, acquaintances and friends are obviously different, and the true blue ones I can count on one hand.
Some of my best friends are men. I have had a male friend since kindergarten, who coincidentally was roommates with my ex-husband in college. (That is not how we met, though). One of my closest male friends, I dated 3 times from an internet dating site, and we choose to be remain friends since romance was definitely not in the cards for us. He is a great guy. We are very close, and any relationship he becomes involved in, his date is immediately made aware of my presence. I am part of the package.
The hardest thing for me, is the participation (or lack of), my male friends wives. I am extremely ethical, would never sleep with a married man, nor be involved with one in any romantic way. I lived through that in my marriage, and although I did not discredit the woman my husband was having an affair with- I would not do that to someone else.
Shortly after my separation, an old boyfriend contacted me. He told me that he was extremely unhappy in his marriage, and wondered if I was interested in getting together with him. I have had contact with him through the years, and knew he was unhappily married. My response to him was to leave his marriage because he was unhappy, and once he did, perhaps we might try, but there was no guarantee, so he best be sure he was making the right decision. It is 5 years later and he is still in his unhappy marriage.
I think the most difficult thing is to maintain my relationships with men who are married. I constantly am seen as a threat and I don't like sneaking around when there is absolutely no reason to do so.
One of the my closest friends is a male, married with a lovely wife and 3 children. He has been an unbelievable friend, and I really love the guy. I met his wife once at his home for dinner. That was the one and only time.
For some reason, she felt I was pursuing her husband and felt very uncomfortable with my relationship with her husband. It began as a professional relationship and escalated to a very emotionally intimate friendship. I was incredibly upset that I was causing such strife in his relationship, but in no way was agreeable to giving him up. He is a rare find, and a very good friend. We meet for lunch, email, but I am mostly kept a secret as to not muster up any thoughts of questionable motives on my part. I am very sad about this - for two reasons. One, I have nothing to hide, and two, I am causing difficulty in their life.
He is not the only one. I have been friends with another man for 40 years. Although he has a terrible marriage, where intimacy does not exist, she, as well, is suspicious of me and refuses to allow him to see me. We have gotten together a number of times and he has kept it from her, although I have made him promise to be honest about me.
So, the real question is- what do I do about this? These are not run of the mill relationships where it is just someone tiptoeing through my life. Some of these men have left footprints on my heart, and in no way would I like to give them up. But, being an empathetic, sensitive woman, I do not want to hurt them or have them be hurt on my account.
It's not that I don't understand how these women feel. I do. Yet, I believe if they were more secure in their relationships, I wouldn't pose such a threat. My husband drove to work every day for years with another woman. I never felt any jealously. The only problem I had is when I would ask my husband if an outfit made me look fat (don't we all?), and he would say, "I had to listen to Harriet ask that in the car all day today, now I have to hear you?"
Alyssa came to me after her first husband left her after secretly having an affair with her best friend. He eventually left Alyssa and married her best friend Cheryl. They lived across the street from one another. Alyssa's children call Cheryl, "Aunt" Cheryl. Now she is their stepmom. Alyssa suffers terribly till this day. She remarried several years ago, and is incredibly suspicious of her new husband. Fortunately, he understands her dilemma, and is overly conscious of not making her feel that he has any interest in anyone but her.
On the other hand, Laura came to me after marrying her best friend's husband. She explained to me that she did not plan for this to happen- it just did. I am not a believer in that, since you certainly can control what happens to you and what you do to other people. But, I chose not to make this of my therapy with her, as she was already married to her best friend's husband, and did not think it would be beneficial to point out the lack of integrity she had in pursuing the husband of her best friend. They moved to a different town, with their 4 children- 2 of hers and 2 of his (joint custody for all). After a few years of marriage, they had one more child together- so baby makes 5. It should serve as no surprise that several months ago; she left her second husband, found someone else, and is again engaged and getting married to someone else.
All this makes sense to me. I don't negate the feelings and concerns of the significant others of the men I am friendly with. But, maybe if they got a chance to know me, they might feel differently. Unfortunately, I know that is not going to happen. I can only hope that one day they can feel that I am their friend, too. If not, I will continue my very important relationships and hope for the best. The bottom line- if it comes to choosing between me and their wives, I will be big enough to let them go- very sadly.

Eating Healthful
Part 1:
Let us take a look in to the world of healthful eating, fast food diets, and the impact that it has on the human body. Let's remember that cholesterol heart medicine is being taken by large numbers of our population. "Such drugs are the best-selling medicines in history, used by more than 13 million Americans and an additional 12 million patients around the world, producing $27.8 billion in sales in 2006". John Carey Reprinted from the Jan. 17, 2008 edition of BusinessWeek.com by special permission Copyright 2008 by The McGraw-Hill Companies. Americans are not alone in their quest for fast and unhealthy food to save time and money. As we dive deeper in to the risks of unhealthy eating choosing to take time to eat properly may be a life or death decision.
Healthful eating along with proper caloric intake and vitamins can possibly save the lives of many Americans because fast foods and poor eating habits is the cause of obesity in America.
What are the pros and cons of eating healthier vs. eating at fast food restaurants? Let's look at some of the pros of eating healthier. Food is to be consumed for one purpose, which is to give the body fuel so as to function to full potential. Think of this fuel in the same manner as the gasoline that is put into a car. The higher the fuel grade the more efficient the car will run therefore; the better the quality of food that we eat, the better our bodies will function. On the other hand if the diet or fuel for the body is full of fast food, it cannot perform like a race car. People do not deliberately put water in the gasoline for the car that they drive to work, so why fill the body with low-grade foods?
There are different types of foods that are best for the body and meals should be balanced throughout the day. Within these types of foods are food groups that chart out a daily balanced intake of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and vitamins. Proper intake of these certain foods such as; fish, chicken, beef, fruits, vegetables, oats, and rice make up a balanced diet. These foods are full of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that assist the body's daily health and fitness. When the body is lacking something from these groups there is a deficiency in the body's healthy production of amino acids. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein. The body's muscles rely heavily on large amounts of protein for muscle repair. Without healthy muscles motion is difficult and taxing on the body.
So, what are some of the drawbacks of eating fast food in a daily diet? I think most would agree that unhealthy and fast foods taste alluring to the pallet. Fast foods are full of saturated fats; sugars, salt and preservatives that make it taste much better. The brain tells the body to accept taste over health. However, with this amazing taste comes a verifiable amount of unhealthy effects on the body. There is negative weight gain, high cholesterol, sickness, infection, and heart disease. In Part 2 we will discuss examples of what some foods consist of other then the satisfying taste.

Recover From Sickness Today
If you are sick you can recover from that sickness by following a proper diet in addition to your medication.
Your first step to recover is to get proper diagnose. Find out the cause of your illness and you are half way through the results.
The next thing you need is to discover which foods aggravate your health problem and then avoid them. If the foods you eat daily has become poison to your blood, it will destroy your health.
You have heard the saying that food is medicine but which of these food is medicine to you? Most doctors and nurses are concerned with curing the diseases, so they are not the best people to ask which foods to avoid or eat to recover.
You need to see a nutritionist or someone who has been in the food correction and supplement business for a long time to get the right foods your body needs to recover.
Now why are we sick? What type of supplement or vitamins do we need on a daily basis to make us live longer, feel younger, and look great?
How would you like to feel great every day? Wake up every morning feeling dynamic! How about losing an extra weight? Have more energy? (All the health problems some people face are due to excess weight. The body is not meant to carry excess weight. Reduce the weight and there go a lot of health problems).
A famous Canadian physician by name Dr. Osler said over 90% of all sickness, aside infections and accidents are due to lack of essential nutrients in the diets.
The sad part of life is that we cut down on our diets to make ends meet only to pay out our"savings" for medical treatment some years later - the result of depriving our bodies of essential nutrients.
It will be a good reasoning to utilize your money on yourself by supplementing your diet (take the foods that heals) and avoid giving away your money to somebody else at a later stage.
What is good health? Good healths is not just the absence of sickness and disease alone, it means waking up every morning feeling rested, and have the energy that can help you achieve whatever you want to achieve every day, having shinning hair, good vision, smooth skin etc. Is this the case with you? Or are you fighting some kind of sickness? Or are you always tired even after a night's rest? Do you have any health challenges? You have to check our diet; the answer is in the food you eat and your lifestyle.
For the body to function properly there is a level of nutrition our body needs every day. If what we eat does not provide our body with the right nutrition, there will be a gap that needs to be filled. The filling of this gap is what we refer to as supplementation.
Since we all know we will die some day, is it not better to find a way to live longer; say 100 years and above? So what type of supplement or vitamins do we need on a daily basis to make us live longer, feel younger, and look great?
By the way what makes us age? Aging sets in when our body can no longer repair or replace worn out cells at the same rate they die. The human body has 73 trillion cells. When these cells die faster than our body can replace, we begin to age. But if we could slow down the process of the cells dying, we could live longer.
Now what causes the cells to die? 50% of the cell membrane consists of lipids and sterol. It is difficult to get enough of lipids and sterol from our food. Lack of these bring about the hardening of the cell walls, a process that interferes with the normal biochemical activity in the body. The cell walls begin to grow hard and disturb the cells' ability to function properly.
Next is the gradual accumulation in the cells and tissue of waste products that slow down and impair life function. The purpose of eating is for nutrition to get to the cells and for them to convert to energy. In the process of conversion, there is a waste product that is produced.
When the waste so produced can't be expelled, the cells get sick and die. If on the hand cells can accept nutrition and eliminate waste, then they will live longer. And when cells live longer we live longer.
Golden Neo-life Diamite Company has the right lipids and sterol plus minerals with other nutrients in Formula IV or Formula IV plus. What benefits can you get when you start taking this product on a daily basis? First, you can wake up before your alarm clock goes off. You will bounce out of bed with more energy than you've had for a long time. Would you like to remove the experience of aches and pains in your joints? Would you like to reduce the pressure you feel associated with stress? How many people will like to have healthier and shinier hair, younger looking skin, and longer as well as stronger nails? Well, those are the kind of features you can expect when you take Formula IV or Formula IV plus or Tre-en-en on a daily basis. You sure need them for healthier cells. . .

An Anti-Aging HGH Product
Anti aging is a huge quest and it is the basis for a lot of research today and everyday there are more products going on the market claiming they have found the answer. "Why would anyone use HGH to hinder ageing?" It is for growth, right? These are two questions that come to mind on first hearing of its use. Scientist, now understand how HGH can be used to control metabolic functioning, and how our body's store and use fat.
Think about this, as we age our bodies slow down naturally. They move slower as does the internal organs and all of the other mechanisms that keep us youthful. With an anti-aging HGH product you can literally keep these organs functioning at their peak, as if they never aged. Many skin care products are including HGH in their formulas. The effects of anti-aging HGH products are said to be faster fat break down and faster cell renewal and this means younger more healthful looking skin. Who doesn't want that?
The Reason Behind It
As people get older these all important HGH levels drop. Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is linked to all the things we think of as being associated with youth. Stamina, smooth skin, high levels of energy are all reserved for the young, that is until now. When a human reaches the age of about 30 the body naturally cuts production of this hormone and as the years go by the production becomes less and less. Thus we begin to see wrinkles, dry, pasty skin, lack of energy and a decided drop in our stamina.
More research into the effects of anti-aging HGH products is being done. The studies are being done still but the products are available everywhere including over-the-counter preparations. Although the news is promising, there is never a cause without an effect, the effects that the introduction of these hormones to an older system will cause are far from conclusive. The body is a delicate machine and introducing these hormones to the predetermined cycle could put it out of balance.
Know What You Are Using
When HGH therapy was first used it was to counter act the effects that some people had who had deficiencies in that area. Over 45 years ago the HGH hormone became the "go to" treatment for children suffering from HGH deficiencies, Turner syndrome, and renal failure and Prader Willi syndrome. It is also used for low birth weight babies or babies who exhibit slowed growth patterns, a diagnosis generally assessed at age 2.
It is extremely important when using anti-aging HGH products that you pay close attention to the dosages. Too much of a good thing can be harmful to your system. Before trying these products you should speak with a physician. Hormones play an integral part in the way our bodies perform tampering with this delicate balance could spell disaster. It is perfectly normal to want to remain as young and as vital as we can for as long as we are able but do so responsibly.

Healthy Nutrition 101
Eating a healthy diet is of paramount importance to having a healthy body. The old saying "You are what you eat" actually has a great deal of truth to it. If your diet consists of too much unhealthy food your health and body will suffer for it. Every day there are news stories about the latest new study on nutrition or the newest fad diet. So much conflicting information makes it difficult to know what a healthy diet really is.
A healthy diet should consist of vegetables, fruits, dairy products, grains, and protein. Protein can be found in many foods, including vegetables, legumes, and meat. Some people prefer to follow a vegetarian diet so it is important to note that protein can come from multiple sources, and not just from meat. Fats, oils, and sugars should be consumed in very limited quantities. Fats, sugars, and oils do not even have a place in the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) healthy eating campaign called "My Plate". The My Plate campaign has replaced the old food pyramid that was used to recommend the daily servings of each food group.
Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is essential to any healthy diet. Make an effort to put a "rainbow" on your plate every day. The colors of fruits and vegetables don't just make your meal more visually appealing they also indicate their nutritional qualities. For example, the green color of vegetables is a sign of the wonderful vitamins and minerals like Vitamins A, K, and C that are inside of them. Green vegetables are also a wonderful source of iron, folate, and magnesium.
Protein is the basic building block of life, and it is an essential part of any healthy diet. Protein can be found in foods such as: beef, chicken, pork, fish, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, tofu, nuts and seeds, and most varieties of beans. Without protein in your diet, your body cannot perform even its most basic functions.
Including dairy products in your diet is essential to having healthy teeth and bone structure. Most current dietary recommendations call for the elimination of full-fat dairy products. Most dairy products, including milk, cheese and yogurt can be found in low-fat versions. There are some diets such as the Atkins and South Beach diet that do allow for full-fat dairy products. You will have to make your own decision about which dairy products you think are the healthiest. However, the key to success in any healthy diet is moderation. Regardless of whether you choose full fat or low fat dairy products, you should watch the amount that you consume.
Grains such as bread, cereal, and pasta provide carbohydrates to your body that are then converted into energy. Most diets now recommend the use of whole grain breads and pastas.
Make sure to build your meals around healthy foods, and you will see the effects immediately. A healthy and nutritious diet will help you to manage your weight, give you more energy, and help you to live a longer, healthier life.

Helpful Advice To Manage Your Anxiety Issues
Ways On How You Could Deal With Anxiety Better
It's hard for anyone to understand the challenges of anxiety unless they've lived through them. What seems simple to them might seem impossible to you. Your anxiety is not your fault, but that doesn't mean there's nothing you can do. Read on to find advice that will help you manage your anxiety and work through its challenges.
A great way to address anxiety is to master the art of diaphragmatic breathing. When you have the ability to focus on this type of deep breathing from the stomach, it is possible to achieve a sense of calm and contentedness that can calm even the most stressful of situations.
Get some exercise. Most people are aware that exercise is good for the body. What they may not be aware of is that exercise is equally good for the mind. In addition to being a healthy outlet for stress, exercising releases chemicals in the brain called endorphins, which are the feel-good chemicals responsible for the well-known runner's high.
Spend less time with people who cause you to feel anxious. Limiting your exposure to people who somehow always seem to make you feel bad is a step forward in reducing your feelings of anxiety. Setting boundaries that are healthy and respectful are a good way to protect you from the anxiety of others.
Keep tabs on or eliminate your consumption of caffeine, nicotine and other stimulants. These substances increase your heart rate and can make you feel more jittery and anxious than you already do. If you cannot make it through the day without several cups of java, look at the reasons why and find ways to make your day less hectic.
If you suffer from anxiety, try your best to quit smoking, as soon as possible. Smoking reduces the functionality of many different organs in your body, putting you in a position where you may be more stressed than usual. Quitting smoking can refresh your body and increase your overall outlook on life.
Watch your posture. People that slouch and breathe in a shallow manner can actually trigger their own anxiety. Slouching prevents you from taking in enough oxygen because it compacts your abdomen. Proper breathing uses your diaphragm to expand your lungs, which doesn't happen if you slouch. Learn to sit or stand straight and breathe, using your belly.
Some great supplements to take if you are experiencing anxiety are cod liver, krill or fish oil. There have been studies that have shown that these three oils are as effective as many of the prescription medications that are available on the market for treating anxiety and depression. A good rule of thumb is 1,000 to 2,000 mg, per day.
One way to cope with anxiety is to just breathe! By focusing on your breathing and taking slow, even breaths is one of the easiest ways to relax. Start by counting to five as you inhale, then exhale for the same amount of time. You'll start to feel calmer, and you'll buy yourself some time to deal with a difficult situation.
As you have seen, anxiety can take many different forms and have many different effects on your life. No matter what sort of anxiety you have, you should start taking steps to get the upper hand on anxiety. By making use of the advice you have read in this article, you can rid yourself of anxiety.

A Few Tips to Reducing Painful Sex With Endometriosis
One of the worst symptoms of Endometriosis, would have to be the painful sex we get with it! It is just like a total slap in the face! I mean really... do we want to test our relationships any more than the emotional ups and downs, the anger outbursts and the "can't do much today cos I am sore" moments? Now, we add painful sex to the mix and it is like we have a perfect list of ingredients, sure to test any relationship!
So, I figured out a few little things, that have helped me to enjoy sex without as much pain and sometimes even pain free! I know these techniques are not going to work for everyone and I know some of us, unfortunately have pain no matter what but hey, they might help at least ease things a little.
Timing is everything
There are better times of the month to have sex. I personally have found the time after ovulation and before my monthly to be the best time. Test the best time for you - some girls say the best time is before ovulation. By recording your cycle and knowing what your body is doing when, you can work out what time is least painful for you and aim to "have fun" during those times.
Are you ready?
This is a little graphic and detailed but it does need a mention. I know if I rush the actual initial insertion part, my insides squeeze much more and I also tighten up more. I find that if I wait and enjoy the moment and don't rush things, I get much less endo pain from sex. If you have ever had sex when you drink you can understand this point a heap more - you simply relax into it more and naturally experience less pain in the process.
Get everything out before hand
Well... go to the toilet. You want to reduce as much pressure down there as possible. I find this helps heaps and also avoids any bladder infections popping up!
Pick the least painful positions
This is kinda a given but naturally we want to reduce any positions that involve anything "too deep". I believe this varies depending on where your endo sits but for me, the deep stuff hurts the most.
Drink a glass of water afterwards and go to the toilet again
This is just a precautionary for the bladder inflammation and potential infection again.
Do a basic Yoga pose afterwards
Yoga ensures natural blood flow and this basic pose will help release any pressure build up. The position is called Baddha Konasana (Cobbler's pose)
- Sit on the floor with your legs stretched out
- Inhale and exhale then while exhaling bring your feet close to your groin and push the sole of your feet against each other
- Hold to your toes and when exhaling try to lower your knees to the ground as much as you can
- Hold this pose for about 3-5 minutes while slowly inhaling and exhaling. You can also lie down and do this pose, making sure you support the knees. Though many of these points will help you reduce the pain during sex, they are only "helping". Ultimately, we still need to heal the body to totally get rid of pain during sex - a true test of success at healing the body from Endo!
Have you found any techniques that have worked for you? Anything you feel like sharing on the topic?
My advice is all through my personal experience with Endometriosis. I want to help as many woman as I can who suffer from this debilitating condition. Everything I have learnt and discovered is through personal experience. You can read my full story and more articles on my blog site: http://www.cureendometriosis.com

5 Reasons You May Stop Losing Weight
Weight loss can be overly frustrating, especially due to the fact that it never remains consistent. While you might find patience to deal with minor ups and downs due to reasons like water content in the body, a prolonged plateau is something that really can put you off and set you farther back. If you have experienced rapid, satisfying weight loss when you first began trying but have met rather slower weight loss in the following weeks, you are not alone. It is rather normal for weight loss plateaus to set in. In fact, you might find yourself losing 2 pounds a week at first but see the needle on the scale fixed for several weeks later, despite the same amount of workout. Following are five reasons this might have happened.
Under Eating
The simplest fact you can learn when trying to lose weight is: It takes calories to burn calories. While you indeed might be intent on making sure that you consume the least possible calories, it is essential that you make sure that these are enough to help your body function normally. Unless you are providing your body enough energy to work with, your metabolic rate will lower itself, thus leading to weight loss being slower. Skipping meals, therefore, is certainly not a great idea! A thumb rule to make sure you consume enough but not excessive calories is to keep them just slightly below the amount you need to maintain your current weight.
Overeating
Yes, quite the opposite can also hamper you. This is particularly a problem for people with raving appetites, since they tend to convince themselves that meal portions are less important than what they are actually eating. This, however, is not the case. A low calorie food will be rather futile if you consume very large portions, since your calories intake will not lessen! This problem may be worsened if you are working on the dieting principle of taking more than 3 meals a day.
Over Training
It indeed must be a triumphant feeling to see the display on the treadmill showing a very high number of burnt calories. This, and the resulting weight loss, is likely to be enough of an incentive to make you workout enough to burn a very large amount of calories in a very less time. Unbelievable as it may be, however, overtraining can eventually result in diminishing returns. If your body is way too overworked during a certain time of the day, it will automatically try to make up by burning lesser calorie during the rest of the day when you are rather inactive. The total burnt calories' count, therefore, might not differ by a significant amount, thus leading you to a frustrating weight loss plateau.
Exercise Efficiency
When you first begin to work out, your body is naturally not used to it. It, therefore, undergoes an 'adaption period', where is makes several internal changes to adapt to increased workload. It so happens that this adaption period itself burns a large amount of calories due to ongoing internal changes. Once, however, you become rather efficient, lesser calories are burnt during the same amount of workout, as is lesser effort. The key to avoiding this is to not let your body be comfortable with working out and to keep changing intensity, duration and frequency of your workout.
Loss of Lean Body Mass
Muscle, as they say, is the metabolic furnace of the body. If your workout is resulting in muscle loss, it will lead to a lower metabolic rate and thus lower weight loss. You must, therefore, ensure that you are maintaining a safe calorie deficit and taking the essential nutrients. You must also accompany your cardio workout with weight
Sheza Naeem answers questions about how to lose weight in her articles. Her weight loss tips and information helped people; adopt a healthier way to live their lives and eat healthy diet.

Jail Resource Management: Review and Revision Program
The Federal Bureau of Prisons, more usually known as BOP, is a federal law enforcement agency operating within the United States Department of Justice that's essentially accountable for the administration of the country's federal prison system.
The grants and programs of the BOP are all geared towards the achievement of its general agency mission which is to "protect society by confining offenders in the controlled environments of prisons and community-based facilities that are safe, humane, cost-efficient, and suitably secure, and that provide work and other self-development opportunities to assist offenders in becoming law-abiding citizens."
As per this mission, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has recently constituted the development of the Jail Resource Management: Review and Revision Program whereby it will solicit applications for the revision of its existing Jail Resource Management Training Program.
The existing Jail Resource Management Programme is generally attended by sheriffs and a number of other jail directors. The program offers a 3-day training course that principally concentrates on the resource needs of a jail, including the development and presentation of a budget request, the determination of alternative funding options, and the management of a jail's budget.
The Jail Resource Management: Review and Revision Program plans to enhance the current Jail Resource Management Programme in an attempt to maximise the resources of the state's jail centers.
The grant awardees will be asked to work closely with the Federal Bureau of Prisons staff for a project period of nine months. To be considered worthy, an applicant must be able to manifest knowledge in the following areas:
a) The purpose, functions, and operational difficulties of local jails
b) The budget-related concerns in jails
c) The analysis of jail resource needs
d) The development and presentation of a convincing budget request to suitable ruling bodies
e) The resource restrictions that are experienced by various local jails and central authorities.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is about to administer funding in the sum of $80,000 to support the execution of the project.
The institutions and associations that'll be deemed eligible to take part in the Jail Resource Management: Review and Revision Program are the following:
a) State or general unit of local government
b) Private agencies
c) Educational institutions
d) Individuals or groups that may manifest expertise in the areas in focus.
All of the institutions and setups mentioned above will be given the opportunity to submit an application under the program as long as they can demonstrate their ability to successfully carry out the activities included in the project.

Is There Prejudice Against Dark Skin Jamaican Women?
The plantation regime of slavery had a major impact on the Jamaican society long after the abolition of slavery. The lighter the skin, the more valuable you were during slavery and even today, after coming such a long way, that mentality still stands.
As recent as the 1960′s, dark skin Jamaican women were not the faces you would normally see serving in the banks, at the airline counters, at the hotel counters or at any of the higher positions in larger companies. It was well accepted that the place for the darker skin Jamaican women was certainly not in the better or more prestigious jobs. This took a major toll on the self-esteem of Young black Jamaican women, who accepted the position of living as a second class citizen. Darker skin women during the 1960′s did not bother much with higher education for various reasons, such as affordability, self-worth, having babies, not enough schools for higher education and not much in the future regarding better jobs.
The early 1970′s saw a new beginning and a turn in the direction regarding skin colour. A young politician by the name of Micheal Manley (very light complexion man) became the Prime minister of Jamaica and spoke out strongly regarding prejudice against the darker skin Jamaicans. He constantly preached about equality among all skin colour. Mr. Manley himself fell in love with and married Beverley Manley, a dark skin Jamaican woman, who sported an afro. Micheal Manley was loved by Jamaicans and was able to get his message across to many. Self-esteem among darker Jamaicans on a whole was on a high. Slogans like-PROUD TO BE BLACK and BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL were extremely popular. Songs included words like EMANCIPATE YOURSELVES FROM MENTAL SLAVERY, NONE BUT OURSELVES CAN FREE OUR MINDS ( Bob Marley ) and YOUNG GIFTED AND BLACK (made popular by Bob Andy and Marcia Griffiths were soaring on the charts in the 1970′s. Darker skin women were getting a boost of self-esteem. They were "proud to be black" and sported their neat afro, dressed confidently in their pedal pushers, mini skirts and hot pants. The faces that greeted customers at the service desks, banks and persons who represented companies as senior staff and managers were now including a number of Dark skin Jamaicans. As people became more aware of their self-worth, education became a priority.
SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE IN JAMAICA
You have to have one or all of the following to be socially accepted. Money, Education, Lighter complexion. Although Jamaica had never lost the whole stigma of the fair skin Jamaicans being the superior, the darker skin Jamaicans had become very aware that if they educate themselves, they could achieve greatness and become whatever they want to be. Black Jamaicans are now Bank Managers, Hotel Managers and owners, Doctors, Teachers, business owners and Might I say Prime minister!! Education has played quite an important roll in the lives of black Jamaicans who started achieving more, becoming bosses and professionals.
BLEACHING:
What could have brought on the recent craze for lighter skin among dark skin Jamaicans especially women!! This activity is identified mostly among the poorer class and the less educated. Could this be that the quest to be socially accepted has left them with no other choice? The poorer class obviously has no money, without money it is hard to get a higher education!! So the lighter skin might be the easiest of the three!! This certainly is no excuse for bleaching of the skin, as this is an extremely dangerous practice, which can negatively affect ones health.
HAVE BLACK MEN BETRAYED DARK SKIN WOMEN?
The darker skin women are losing the battle against the lighter skin women in the quest for love. Jamaican men seem to much favour the "brownings" (women with lighter complexion) and women of different race with lighter complexion. It is very obvious to see the pride and adoration in the faces of some black men when they walk down the street hand in hand with a light complexion woman!! One explanation given to me by a black man was "Black women do not groom themselves as well and things like going to the gym and spa are not very common among them". A very famous DJ unleashed a monster among Jamaicans when he released the popular song-"mi love mi car mi love mi bike mi love mi money an ting, but most of all mi love mi browning ". That popular song (although very catchy and I must admit, I danced to the beat a few times) took us back several years, as many Jamaican men felt and still feel the need to follow suite.
A LOOK AHEAD
The future looks very promising for the Dark skin Jamaican women, who have gotten far ahead in life, becoming Lawyers, doctors, Bank managers, Hotel managers even Prime minister, achieving Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees. The future looks very bright, however loyalty from Jamaican Black men would be good. Most Black women are confident enough not to be needy, but to move forward to where they are appreciated and needed.
The question is have we really moved forward as a nation? It is really sad that a lack conscious thinking can hold a whole nation in the past.

History of Valentine's Day - How It Came to Be
Valentine's Day on February 14 is, in some countries, the day of lovers. The traditions of this day go back to the story of one of several Christian martyrs named Valentine who, according to history, was martyred by beheading.
A memorial was introduced by Pope Gelasius I in 469 AD but in 1969, it was omitted from the General Roman Calendar. However, there is still widespread celebration on Valentine's Day around worship, in which couples ask for blessings.
This day eventually became popular in the west through trade in flowers and the heavy advertising of florists and candy makers.
Customs
The popularity of the date is based on a poem by the English writer Geoffrey Chaucer, "Parliament of Birds". In 1383, probably on the occasion of Valentine's Day celebration, it was completed and was first presented publicly at the court of King Richard II.
In the poem of Chaucer, it was described how the birds gather to dedicate this holiday to the goddess of Nature so that everyone finds a partner. Since the 15th Century in England, couples began sending small gifts or poems during this day. From then on, the combination of letters and flowers was imitated by the British.
English emigrants brought the custom of Valentine's Day in the United States and so after the Second World War, the first "Valentine's Ball" was held in Nuremberg in 1950 by U.S. soldiers. Valentine's Day was generally accepted to be on the 14th so prior to February, there is an increased influx of florists and advertising of the confectionery industry.
There are now Valentine chocolates, Valentine cards and perfumes sold but the most popular gifts on February 14 are still flowers. While flowers are sold throughout the year, it is mostly men who buy flowers for women.
In Japan, women give chocolates to men on 14 February. Sometimes, women will postpone it a month later on White Day, with white chocolate as a present. Even young girls take this day as an opportunity to give chocolate to boys, which they carefully made themselves.
In South Korea, people celebrate White Day and the Black Day, in addition to Valentine's Day. On the 14th of April, people eat Jajangmyeon which are noodles with black sauce. Also in South Korea, every 14th of the month has romantic connotations to it.
Today, even in the People's Republic of China, younger generations enjoy this day as the western culture and lifestyle is increasingly becoming popular. In Brazil, Valentines is Celebrated on the 12th of June.

Are the New Girl's LEGO's Politically Correct?
This politically correct nonsense has to be reined in.
It is has gone overboard.
It has gone too far and "jumped the shark!"
Now what happened you may ask?
Recently, various protest groups object that the new Girl's LEGOs "promote an overt form of sexism." They scream being pretty is more important than what you can do.
They have fashionable hair styles discriminating against the poor.
The Girl LEGOs are too slim therefore ostracizing overweight little girls and they dress at a middle to upper class level so the poor cannot relate or feel improper pressure.
Really?
Probably somehow the pegs and the holes on the bottom of the pieces symbolize something too!
This is HOGWASH!
These are toys and only twisted adults with too much time on their hands could think like this!
Personally I can't believe this is even making the news!
Did you hear that Barbie wears too much expensive jewelry?
Plastic surgeons also want Barbie to go back to her original bust size because now she doesn't reflect all the enhancements that millions are spent on enhancements each and every year. With an average bust on Barbie, millions maybe billions of dollars are being lost by these poor doctors.
Is this fair??
GI Joe carried a gun so he must be in favor of killing and violence!
Train sets have locomotives that bellow smoke and pollute the environment. They are not "green!"
Rock 'em Sock 'em robots are in favor of bullying and just want to fight! They are the cause of all violence in our schools!
Sorry is a game that doesn't apologize in a polite and full manor - it's apologies are way too terse!
Monopoly?-Nope they are illegal and only played in Washington DC and in election years when BIG donations are sought.
Tinker Toys-they did not pull all necessary permits to begin construction and are structurally unsafe.
Lincoln Logs-they have to be renamed as all other past and current Presidents are offended that the logs aren't named after them. (Roosevelt Logs?)
Baby Dolls can't be sold as the pro-life people think they should have been aborted before they hit the shelves!!
Blah, blah, blah.
My God, let the kids play!
Let them have fun.
Let them grow up.
Let them use their imaginations and play over, and around any objections they may find.
Forget the objections found by Mom, found by Dad!
I can't believe the junk our media picks up and endorses.
Where does it stop?
When does it stop?
I'm worried for kids today and the children of the future.
Please, let children be children.
My hope, my wish is that by the time the kids playing with LEGOs grow up, we will fix the silly laws, the silly rules, the silly thinking that has polluted our everyday lives.
It's time to speak up and let the goof balls out there know they are goof balls.
Be assertive, take a stance, get involved and reclaim America for the land that MOST of us love!

What We Don't Know About America's Most Famous Secretary
OMAHA, Neb. - Most Americans had never heard of Debbie Bosanek until she agreed to serve as a human prop for President Obama's State of the Union speech last week.
Bosanek, as millions of us now know, is Warren Buffett's secretary. She was seated near the First Lady when the president called for a "Buffett rule" that would require people making more than $1 million to pay at least 30 percent of their income in federal taxes. White House image-makers were eager to use Bosanek to symbolize a middle class that is being relentlessly squeezed by a system that favors the wealthy and well-connected.
This raised questions that we usually have no reason to ask about a corporate chieftain's assistant. Exactly how well does Bosanek fit into the president's definition, or anyone's definition, of "middle class?" Does she feel squeezed? Does she endorse the president's message that her boss should pay higher taxes?
Buffett, the multi-billionaire chairman and CEO of Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc., brought Bosanek into the public conversation last summer when, in a New York Times op-ed piece, he observed that the share of his income that goes to federal taxes is the lowest among the 20 people, including Bosanek, who work in his office. (The original op-ed column did not mention his secretary specifically, but her circumstances became the focus of many follow-up interviews and much commentary.) Wealthy people, Buffett argued, should pay more than others, not less - a point with which the president heartily agrees.
A funeral on my wife's side of the family brought me to Omaha last Thursday, just after Bosanek's moment in front of the cameras. The online world was buzzing about the suddenly famous administrative assistant, and she was front-page news in her hometown. "Buffett calls criticism of his secretary 'ridiculous,'" the Omaha World-Herald newspaper, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, reported.(1) Coincidentally or otherwise, the adjacent story above the fold reported on a hearing in the Nebraska Legislature: "Counties rip plan to drop inheritance tax."
By raising the topic of his secretary's income taxes, Buffett inevitably led people to ask how much she is paid. But he and Bosanek both refused to answer that question, saying her personal business is personal. This was true, until Buffett decided to make it the country's business too.
Buffett apparently disapproved of online speculation about Bosanek's income and about her and her husband's recent purchase of a second home in Arizona. "They can't attack the facts, so they attack the person," Buffett told the World-Herald. "It's ridiculous."
No serious person is attacking Bosanek. Asking about her income, which is necessary to understand and critique Buffett's argument about taxes generally, is not an attack. Many administrative assistants to top executives (unlike the 82-year-old Buffett, most of us don't call them secretaries nowadays) earn six-figure incomes, and in my experience, they deserve every penny. If Buffett wants us to address the facts underlying his opinions, he ought to provide some.
Here are a few facts we can deduce without getting too personal. Buffett derives most of his income from Berkshire Hathaway dividends, which are taxed at 15 percent - because the income has already been taxed at the corporate level at rates up to 35 percent. Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway also pay state taxes, which he does not address in his argument. If we consider the total tax burden on income earned by Berkshire Hathaway and passed on to Buffett, it is almost certainly larger than Bosanek's.
Bosanek and her husband, a delivery truck driver, presumably earn most of their income from wages. Their overall tax rate includes not just income taxes, but Social Security taxes. Social Security will replace a much larger share of their income than it would replace for Buffett, and Bosanek is looking forward to collecting it. "Hopefully in 10 years, when I turn 65 and Warren turns 92, I will be able to convince him to finally retire so I can retire, after working 47 years, and spend some time where the sun shines in the winter," she told the World-Herald. Buffett and Obama are drifting steadily toward an argument that Social Security taxes should just be folded into the regular income tax system, breaking any ties between what an individual earns, what he or she pays in taxes, and what he or she ultimately receives as a retirement benefit.
Long-term capital gains are also taxed at 15 percent, well below the top rate on ordinary income. The president and many in his party would be happy to see that rate raised, at least for upper-income taxpayers. They seldom mention that most middle-class families pay little or no tax on their lifetime capital gains, which for average Americans arise mostly from of their homes. A married couple can avoid tax on up to $500,000 of gain from selling a principal residence, and can do so multiple times. Other assets get a stepped-up basis when acquired from a decedent.
Middle-class families also do not pay federal estate taxes, for which married couples now have a combined $10 million lifetime exemption. Someone in Buffett's position could expect to see hundreds of millions, or even billions of dollars of his lifetime wealth accumulation taken after his death, if he wanted to pass that wealth on to his heirs. As it happens, Buffett is a proponent of the estate tax, but he does not actually expect his family to pay much. He has said publicly that he will leave only modest wealth to his heirs, devoting the rest to charity - and thus avoiding the tax. His advocacy of the tax, therefore, amounts to arguing that other wealthy people (though almost none are nearly as wealthy as he) pay a tax that he personally has no intention of paying.
This is as close to a fact-based argument as I can make with the limited facts that the Buffett and his loyal assistant have chosen to share with us.
Like most financial professionals, I respect Buffett's business acumen. Like most Americans, I take as a given that he, and his secretary, are basically honest and decent people, because most of us are honest and decent, even if we forget to acknowledge this in the heat of our disagreements.
But Buffett did not make an intellectually honest argument by insisting that his formerly anonymous secretary ought to retain her privacy after she let herself be used as a political poster child. We can only guess that Debbie Bosanek is better-paid than most administrative assistants. We know for a fact that the average assistant does not get camera time at the State of the Union address.

Top Five Most Popular Videos of the Queen Online
The beautiful thing about the internet is that anyone has access to a plethora of stock footage beneath their fingertips. Any person is able to look back through time and watch and hear key moments in history from the comfort of their homes, gaining knowledge and understanding about our own history as humankind. As we move into 2012 in the UK, it is important to note that Queen Elizabeth II approaches the 60th anniversary of her reign; we can take a look back through her defining online moments - which have proved most popular with audiences all over the world.
Search any of these following titles on YouTube to find the referenced videos.
"The Queen's Arrival at the Funeral of Diana Princess of Wales"
This is remembered as one of the upsetting days in recent English history. The catastrophic event of Diana's death bought gloom to the nation, perhaps to the World, whilst unfortunately being the cause of much controversy and conspiracy surrounding the Royals. The stock footage of the Queen arriving at the funeral is one of the most watched videos on the internet her Royal Majesty is featured in.
"Queen snubs Prince Charles' wife Camilla at the Royal Wedding!!!"
In this online video the Queen Mother, the Queen is shown to ignore Prince Charles's wife Camilla Parker Bowles at the Royal Wedding in 2011. The relationship between the Queen Mother and Camilla has always been slightly dubious for many reasons - however a clever cameraman seemed to pick up this small leak, capturing the real sentiment the Queen towards Camilla.
"The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II "
In this rare stock footage in black and white from 1953, we see the BBC footage of Elizabeth becoming Queen Elizabeth II. In front of around ten thousand people, Prime Ministers, heads of states and Commonwealth; Elizabeth takes a Coronation oath bound to serve her people and maintain the laws of God. One of the most important national moments in living UK history, which clocks in just under 800,000 thousand hits.
"The Queen is almost assaulted... "
The misleading title is probably what attracted nearly 350,000 people to watching it. At the 'Trooping of the Colours' in 2006 a streaker covered only by a union jack flag tried to 'get a closer look' at the Queen and ran towards her from the crowd who was only to be heavily restrained from security and trooping Beefeaters. The Queen did not comment on the incident, but I'm sure the Queen was not amused.
"Queen humiliates President Obama at Buckingham Palace by refusing toast - May 24 2011"
In May 2011, the American President Barack Obama came to Buckingham Palace for a banquet. Obama whilst giving his toast stopped for a poignant pause which the orchestra mistook for the end and struck up 'God Save The Queen' - which then Obama toasted. The Queen did not respond till the Orchestra had finished, as is tradition. Many unhappy Americans mistook this for downright rudeness, even though Obama understood his mistake and joked about it with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg describing the mishap as 'out of the movies'. Not the strongest stock footage of the Queen, but popular all the same.

What Is the Red Shirt Friday Tradition?
What is the Red Shirt Friday Tradition and Why?
Who can forget the home coming that many of the Vietnam Vets received in the late 1960's and early 1970's? The Vietnam Conflict became a long drawn out affair and eventually public opinion slowly turned against the successful conclusion of the War. Those of us who lived through those troubled years remember very quickly how the returning Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine and Coast Guard Veterans were treated and welcomed home. Who can forget the rotten eggs, tomatoes and even a popular movie star that made a public spectacle of her self and those who heard the Call of Duty when their Country needed them? The challenges in the theater of conflict was bad enough for those that chose to wear their Country's Uniform but to be publicly humiliated and maligned was over the top.
The phrases, Jack Booted Thugs, Baby Killers, and so forth still rings loud and clear in the minds and consciousness of many of those who served in Vietnam as well as the Families and Friends of many who lost loved ones and friends. The Vietnam Memorial (The Wall) is a constant reminder to many of those days. In the heat of a political election in 2004 and 2005, we heard the same phrases about those young men and women who chose to hear the Call of Duty, when once again their Country needed them. Today's Military is All Voluntary! Since September 11, 2001, there have been over five million (5,000,000) young men and women, just in the United States alone step up to the plate for their Country! Many of America's friends and allies also came to our aid and volunteered their fighting forces to take it to the people that attacked America on that day.
This time though, it was going to be different! The Silent Majority and many of the Vietnam Vets said, "Enough is Enough!" The Red Shirt Friday Tradition Was Born! Slowly but surely that Tradition was catching on, not only in the United States but Canada as well and many of us have taken it by advertising and conferences to the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. In 2005, Deb and I had two of our sons, Scotty and Tony, were in the United States Army. So it was a natural for us. They loved to hear that Mom and Dad were proud of them and that Mom and Dad said they were heroes to them. Our Two Boys, along with the over Five Million other Young Men and Women who answered the Call of Duty, WERE NOT DRAFTED OR EVEN HAD THE REMOTES THOUGHT OF BEING DRAFTED! As our two sons said to us: "We want to do what you, Papa, Uncle Jim and Uncle Frank did!" I knew what that meant and so did my Dad and two brothers. They, like so many others, wanted to be a part of the solution.
What the Red Shirt Friday Tradition is:
1) It is our way of very simply wearing a red shirt on Friday to honor their commitment
2) It is our way of showing them that we appreciate their Call to Duty
3) It is our way to let them know that they are heroes to us
What the Red Shirt Friday Tradition is Not:
1) It is not political in any way, we have turned down several politicians who wanted to capitalize on it
2) It in no way shows a support for or against the Global War on Terror
Those of us who commit to the Red Shirt Friday Tradition will do so, Until They All Come Home!
Sam and Deb Burgess have been very active and vocal supporters of the Red Shirt Friday Tradition since the Fall of 2005. We have done numerous presentations, interviews and articles regarding the Red Shirt Friday Tradition, Until They All Come Home! On the Red Shirt Friday site you will find many articles, pictures, videos, and interviews regarding the tradition.

Fire Department Equipment - The Wise Choice of Obtaining Hydraulic Rescue Tools Part I
Is your fire department active in vehicle and accident rescue? If so, you might consider requesting rescue tools from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant in 2012.
An excellent set of equipment in this category should consist of all hydraulic rescue tools. Be sure to include at least a 28" spreader with no less than 57,000 pounds of spread force. A good set should also include a very large cutter with 121,000 pounds of force. Additionally, it should have a mini-cutter with at least a 1.5" opening, a ram set, a pulling and lifting accessory kit, and multiple sections of color coded extension hose. Do not forget to request all mounting brackets so that your department can properly affix the equipment inside of your vehicles. You will also need to purchase a power unit or generator.
Your department should budget about $32,000 for the equipment and about $11,000 for the power unit or generator.
Why would you consider purchasing this equipment? There are many possible reasons for the request, but first and foremost would be the improved safety offered to entrapped victims. The second reason would be for the safety of firefighters responsible for freeing victims at accident scenes.
Let's start with the tools' ability to free victims. If your department has no such tools and uses sledge hammers and crow bars, then these may have worked for you in the past. Certainly they did not make rescues easy, but they sufficed if that is all you had. Today this is not a possibility. Why? The high grade steel used for automobile manufacturing today is not able to be plied open with crow bars. The cage construction will not allow such tools to effectively get to a victim for medical care. They are not easily extricated from vehicles. Within an entrapment a victim cannot be properly treated, and there is always the potential for fire. The longer the victim remains untreated or only with partial medical care, then the greater the chance for complication.
Now for firefighter safety. Every minute that a firefighter spends on a roadway, there is danger of being hit by a passing car or truck. Every time a firefighter operates equipment, there is strain on muscle and back; this can lead to injury. So herein lies the argument for good equipment. It is lightweight and easy to operate. Many older hydraulic tools require two firefighters to operate. These two firefighters must attend to the victim. If the space is confined no one can help the victim while the entrapment is being resolved. Treatment time is lost.
Most older units weigh well over 100 lbs. Injury to rescuers is always a concern and we will have firefighters end up with major back injuries. Certainly, many have already had minor ones on many occasions and this could lead to greater issues.
The bottom line is - get the new equipment as soon as you can. It will help both rescuers and victims.

Sound and Fury, Media, Sports, and Distraction of the Mindless Masses
Some might love to use social networks, and who can blame them as they are designed for people to communicate in a way that makes them feel good about themselves. In China, the government wants to limit the time spent on social networks, as they want a productive and obedient society. That makes sense, 1.3 Billion people, with an unbalanced percentage of males, is quite a handful. In the US we see a dummying down of our populations - sure TV, social networks, and all the time wasted is not doing us any good. Okay so let's talk.
Not long ago, I was having this discussion with an acquaintance. Should we outlaw the use of social networks and limit people's TV time? Well, I believe we should allow people their pursuit of happiness, I don't want to limit their choices on how they spend their time, I don't want the heavy hand of government telling me what I must do either you see. My acquaintance noted;
"I agree with what you're saying about people's personal choices and decisions to make their lives happier. I understand that the most basic level people only want to be happy, the issue we run into is what makes one person happy does not serve everyone in the same way. Distraction is a tool in controlling the masses. Originally the distraction was religion over the years as science progressed leaders have found that mass media can replace religion in this area."
It seems the Aztecs, Romans, and other cultures used sports - fighting to the death. Some cultures had linked it to "penalties" for going against the rule of law, generally unilaterally made by some psychotic ruler, I use "psychotic" here as an extreme form of "psychopathic-psychotic" Machiavelli type.
Both my acquaintance and I did agree that we ought to enlighten and get our kids to understand how the media is affecting their minds, and thus, help them make reason of it all and then decide. That would be a great idea, and we might start by having them read up on Media Philosophers like; Herbert Marshall McLuhan, the famous Canadian media philosopher.
Right now, coincidentally, I am reading OBD - Obsessive Brand Disorder and have several books on the media worthy of reading. Often I equate the Media to being the Fourth Branch of Government in the US, as our government is set up with a Judicial, Legislative, and Executive Branch, but the Media controls all three it seems, as the government caters to the wishes of the people, which changes on a whim due to the media which owns the minds of the masses now. "He who controls the media, controls the minds of the masses," as someone once said. So, let's all please consider all this.
