Replication Research on Sexual Violence Case Attrition Program

The Office of Justice Programs, otherwise known as OJP, is a federal government agency operating in the United States Department of Justice that is basically answerable for the prevention of crimes through research and development, the provision of assistance to state and local law enforcement and criminal justice agencies through grants, and the provision of assistance to crime victims.

The prior study, funded by the National Institute of Justice, employed quantitative and qualitative methods in the process of determining the factors that increase the chance of case attrition at the law enforcement level with a specific focus on the outstanding clearance and unfounding of sexual assault cases.

As a result, the investigation has provided the institute with details about the status of case attrition in large metropolitan areas.

In an attempt to support and ratify these information, the Office of Justice Programs proposes to replicate the initiative to facilitate the better generalization of results and a deeper understanding of the problems across and within troubled jurisdictions.

The Office of Justice Programs is ready to administer funds in the amount of $1,200,000 to financially support the activities involved under the initiative.

The establishments and organizations who will be considered eligible to submit an application under the program are the following:

a) Nonprofit and for-profit organizations

b) Local government units

c) Federally-recognized Indian Tribal Governments

d) Institutions of Higher Education

e) Tribal Institutions of Higher Education
